Derailed Lab is an experimental research studio that will set off on study expeditions mapping large territories and documenting vast, complex socio-political landscapes by tracing the world’s longest networks. Rail networks have been ingrained in global chains for hundreds of years, giving rise to an ever expanding economy. We gear up to witness these booming transformations and discover shifting former barren worlds. The train carriage is an ideal observation post from which to witness changes in landscape and record using film, drawing and writing a reality shaped by capitalistic markets, geopolitical issues and ecological tensions which shape the contemporary world.
Derailed Lab is run by Jon Goodbun and Raluca Cirstoc.
Applications now open for our summer 2017 expedition. Please email a copy of your CV and a cover letter explaining why you would like to join our research programme along the Silk Road.
